Good samaritans hailed as heroes for lake rescue

MARION, Ill., (KBSI) — Two men who rescued a suicidal woman from Crab Orchard Lake in May have been recognized for their heroic actions.

Zach G. Wagner and Brayden C. Edwards, employees of Oasis Powersports, pulled the woman from the water after she had ingested pills and entered the lake.

Their rapid response allowed Carterville EMS to provide immediate medical care, and the woman was transported to a local medical center for treatment.

Wagner and Edwards received life-saving awards at a ceremony at the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office on June 11.

“Without their heroic actions, we would have suffered the tragic loss of a life,” Sheriff Jeff Diederich said.
