GORDONVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — The Gordonville Fire Protection District responded early Thursday to a medical emergency that quickly became critical, officials said.
Firefighters were dispatched for a report of respiratory distress, which escalated to respiratory failure and cardiac arrest shortly after crews arrived on scene. Personnel immediately began CPR and provided advanced life-saving care before Cape County Private Ambulance personnel arrived.
Firefighters and ambulance crews continued patient care together and prepared the patient for transport, with a member of the fire department accompanying the ambulance crew. Officials said the patient had a pulse during transport and upon arrival at the hospital.
An ALS-equipped Engine 3631 later responded to the hospital to transport the firefighter back to service.
The department said the call marked its 12th response in the past seven days.
