FRANKFORT, Ky., (KBSI) – Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear provided an update on the state’s response to flooding and winter weather during a press conference Wednesday morning.

At least 14 lives have been lost due to the severe weather, with two fatalities reported in Jefferson County.

Beshear urged residents to take action to stay warm, especially with snow and below-zero windchills expected across the state.

“If you can’t turn your heat on by this afternoon, you need to call a family member or friend and go stay with them,” Beshear said. “If that option isn’t available, please go to an emergency shelter.”

The governor also announced the launch of the Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund, which has raised over $50,000 to help pay for funeral expenses of the victims.
