CHICAGO (KBSI) — Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and lieutenant governor candidate Christian Mitchell receive an endorsement from the Gun Violence Prevention PAC of Illinois ahead of the 2026 election.

G-PAC, a statewide gun violence prevention advocacy organization, announces the endorsement Thursday, May 28.

In a statement, G-PAC President and CEO Kathleen Sances credits Pritzker’s administration for advancing gun safety measures in Illinois, including restrictions on assault weapons, ghost guns and high-capacity magazines.

Pritzker says Illinois has made progress in reducing gun violence but more work remains.

Mitchell, a former state representative and deputy governor, says he worked alongside Pritzker on legislation including Illinois’ assault weapons ban and expanded background checks.

According to the release, Illinois has also implemented gun dealer licensing requirements and strengthened laws involving safe firearm storage and reporting lost or stolen guns.
