Grace Coffee + Cafe Celebrates one year anniversary of kindness, smiles, and job opportunities for people with disabilities

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo (KBSI) – Grace Coffee + Cafe in Cape Girardeau Missouri celebrated  their open year anniversary with a anniversary block party Saturday afternoon.

“This is what our dream was for us to have the opportunity to provide opportunities for people with disabilities,” says Susan Stone the owner of Grace Coffee + Cafe. She explains what it means for the organization to offer opportunities for those with disabilities saying, ” it’s it’s awesome because it allows our community to see the word and value of every individual and that they have things to contribute and they could be a good fit for any employer in Cape.”

Employees with Grace Coffee + Cafe say this one year milestone serves as a great way to continue to learn and grow. like Louise Omission who says, “it means everything it means one year of more employment one year of learning new task one year of serving the community so it’s exciting just another year to learn and grow.”

Stone says this anniversary is a great way to celebrate the opportunities they have opened up for people in Cape Girardeau.

“We’re so excited to have this anniversary party so thankful that the weather has held off. It’s just a chance for us to celebrate the fact that we’ve made it a year here in cape and we’ve given opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to have for work.” Says Stone, “we are just so thankful for the Cape Girardeau coming out and supporting us and they have really lifted us up and encouraged us, giving us lots of love in the last 12 months.”

Omission says its a great place for coffee lovers, saying, “its a great organization come out come support get coffee. I’m a coffee snob and I love it here.”

Stone says the origination is thankful for all the support from the Cape Girardeau community this past year.

“We have learned on the go and we have got a good team assembled and we are figuring it out and it’s been great.” Stone says the community of Cape Girardeau “has been so supportive and they have just cheered us on every step of the way.”
