Graffiti cleared from Cape Girardeau bridge overlook
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A group of volunteers have stepped up to rid the Old Mississippi River Bridge Scenic Overlook of graffiti.
A few days ago, Old Town Cape was notified of graffiti on the overlook, which had been there since last week.
Paris Johnson, owner and operator of PJ’s Pressure washing, cleaned the spray paint off of the overlook Wednesday afternoon. He said one of the reasons he started his company was to help keep Cape clean.
“It’s a good thing we can come out and help take care of all of our public property,” he said. “We just want to make sure we can take care of Cape and continue to benefit our area.”
Old Town Cape Executive Director Liz Haynes said keeping downtown spaces is very important.
“Projects like these are huge to continue to attract the tourists that we do, to make this environment where our downtown business owners and our residents want to be, want to live, want to work, and enjoy playing, so it’s vital to keep those spaces beautiful,” she said.
Haynes said the cleanup was organized by Todt Roofing President Brennon Todt in partnership with Old Town Cape.
