Granite City man facing charges after stolen vehicle found in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A Granite City, Ill. man faces charges in Carbondale after Automated License Plate Readers alerted police of a stolen vehicle.
James R. Taylor, 53, faces charges of theft (over $10,000) and motor vehicle theft.
Automated License Plate Readers alerted City of Carbondale police officers to the presence of a 2013 Ford Taurus reported stolen from Wayne County, Illinois in the area of East Main Street and Giant City Road on Saturday, July 15 at 8:40 p.m.
Officers found the vehicle parked at a business in the 1400 block of East Main Street.
Tayler was identified as the driver of the stolen vehicle.
He was arrested.
The investigation revealed that Taylor was also responsible for stealing another vehicle from the 900 block of East Main Street in Carbondale on July 4, according to the Carbondale Police Department.
That vehicle had been recovered in Wayne County.
Taylor was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail.
