MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — A Grant man was arrested Monday after investigators executed a search warrant as part of an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators with the sheriff’s office ICAC Task Force served a search warrant in the 100 block of Esslinger Road after receiving a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Authorities said the investigation began after information was received through the CyberTipline regarding the possible possession of child sexual abuse material. Investigators established probable cause and obtained a search warrant for the residence.
During the search, investigators conducted a preliminary examination of a mobile device and arrested Ricky E. Burkhead, 62, of Grant.
Burkhead was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography and transported to the Marshall County Jail. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.
The sheriff’s office said additional charges are expected.
Possession of child pornography is a Class B felony in Kentucky and is punishable by two to 20 years in prison and fines of up to $30,000 per count.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Marshall County Attorney’s Office and Grant Police Department assisted with the investigation.
Burkhead is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
