MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — The Graves County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports of deer exhibiting unusual behavior near local businesses and schools.

According to the department, the first report came on Sept. 29, when a deer was seen acting strangely near a business along Kentucky Highway 80, just east of Mayfield. A biologist from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife (KDFW) responded and took the animal for testing.

A second incident occurred Wednesday around noon, when another deer was reported near Central Elementary School on Kentucky Highway 121 North. The animal later entered the school building. No students were present due to fall break.

Deputies and a Kentucky State Police trooper were able to safely corral the deer, remove it from the building, and euthanize it.

In both incidents, officials said the deer did not act aggressively but appeared confused and disoriented, possibly suffering from vision issues.

The latest case has been reported to KDFW for further review.
