MAYFIELD, Ky. (AP) — The Graves County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a jury duty scam circulating again in the area.

According to a social media post from the sheriff’s office Thursday, scammers are calling local residents while posing as deputies and demanding payment to “take care” of a warrant allegedly issued for missing jury duty.

Officials say callers are instructing victims to send money, including through cryptocurrency kiosks.

The sheriff’s office emphasized that law enforcement agencies will never request payment over the phone to resolve warrants or missed jury duty matters.

Authorities are encouraging anyone who receives one of the calls to hang up immediately and avoid sharing personal or financial information.
