Graves Co. Sheriff’s deputies arrest man on theft, firearm charges; find stolen vehicles
GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI)- On March 19th, Graves County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Ricky W. Cook around 4:30 p.m. surveillance of an area Cook was believed to have been frequenting was underway when deputies observed him driving eastbound on KY Hwy 58 near the airport.
As a traffic stop was being initiated, Cook sped up to approximately 100 miles per hour, then slowed and stopped.
He was taken into custody without any further incident.
Cook was being sought in connection to a theft investigation involving over $100,000 dollars worth of vehicles, tractors, and other items.
Arrested: Cook, Ricky W. Age 45
Of the Clear Springs area of Graves Co. Charges:
~Theft of Property valued at over $10,000 but under 1 million.
~Theft by Deception over $10,000
~Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree
~Burglary 3rd Degree
~Criminal Mischief 1st
~Criminal Trespass 1st Degree
~Possession of Handguns by a Felon
~Possession of Firearms by a Felon
The investigation is continuing. Cook was transported and lodged at an out of county detention center.
Two reported stolen tractors have been found and recovered by Sheriff Jon Hayden and Deputy Peyton Jackson from a location near the Dublin area of Graves County.
The stolen tractors were part of a large theft recently reported to the sheriff’s office.
During the stolen property investigation on March 20, 2024, sheriff’s deputies identified property that had been purchased utilizing stolen funds, proceeds from the sale of numerous items of stolen property from Graves County.
This is in connection to a stolen property investigation involving Teri Bush and Ricky W. Cook, whom have both been charged with numerous felony theft related charges.
Numerous vehicles will be held pending a court order ordering a disposition of the property. This is in an effort to direct lost and stolen funds back to the victim(s) in this case.
