Greenhouse experts give tips on planting this season
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – These beautiful warm days have homeowners getting excited about planting. With warmer temperatures in the forecast, nurseries and greenhouses are getting ready for all your planting needs.
Cold crops can be planted. Those include cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. More tender vegetables should wait at least two more weeks.
Nursery experts say the beginning of may is the best time for folks to start their gardens.
Manager Melissa Holmes from the Charles Hutson Greenhouse says there are other factors to having a successful crop.
“It is going to depend on the plant and even the location,” Holmes said. “Soil does kinda make a difference too, and again it depends on your soil type. You can have a completely different soil composition from one spot and five feet away have a completely different soil composition.”
Whether you are a beginner or a green thumb expert, your local nurseries have something for everyone and are ready for all your planting needs.
