Groundbreaking held for new manufacturing facility in Jackson

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) – A company broke ground on a new manufacturing facility in Jackson, Mo. Monday afternoon.

Trussworks Mid-America, LLC is a truss manufacturer. The new facility is an investment of $5 million that will enhance production capabilities and create approximately 50 new jobs in the region.

“We are excited to embark on this expansion journey and to establish our new facility in Jackson,” said Steve Stroder, President & CEO of Trussworks Mid-America, LLC. “With the support of the Missouri Department of Economic Development, local authorities, and our dedicated team, we are confident in our ability to drive success and contribute positively to the local economy. This investment underscores our commitment to delivering exceptional products to our customers while creating jobs and opportunities for the community.”

The Missouri Department of Economic Development approved Trussworks for the Missouri Works program. This approval allows the company to benefit from a retention of new Missouri payroll taxes for five years.

Trussworks will be located in the Cape Girardeau County Enhanced Enterprise Zone. It provides a 50% real property tax abatement for 10 years with the creation of new jobs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Trussworks to the region and to witness their substantial investment in our community,” said Mayor Dwain Hahs of the City of Jackson. “This project not only signifies confidence in our workforce and infrastructure but also demonstrates our commitment to fostering a thriving business ecosystem. We look forward to the positive impact Trussworks will have on our local economy, including the significant sales tax revenue it is expected to generate for Jackson.”

The project is also supported by a $787,812 grant from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The grant is to help construct and improve public infrastructure, including streets, water distribution, stormwater, and sanitary sewer, to help make the project possible.

The new facility will enable Trussworks to meet the growing demand for its products while providing employment opportunities for skilled workers in the region.

“We are encouraged to see this significant investment and job creation by Trussworks in southeast Missouri,” said Shad Burner, Management Consultant for SEMO REDI. “This expansion will not only bolster Jackson’s local economy but also reaffirm our attractiveness for business growth and development. This project perfectly highlights the collaborative efforts among business leaders, government officials, and SEMO REDI to drive sustained prosperity in our region.”

Construction of the new facility is expected to commence as soon as possible. Operations are slated to begin later this year.

SEMO REDI is a regional organization focused on creating a more vibrant economic future for southeast Missouri which seeks to improve the lives of residents by increasing economic opportunities while providing a place for businesses to thrive.
