MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — A Hardin man was taken into custody Tuesday after deputies say he fled from law enforcement and crashed into vehicles and a home while attempting to avoid arrest.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says deputies located Samuel J. Brackett, 32, on Feb. 17. Brackett was wanted on an active parole warrant for absconding supervision and other parole violations.

According to deputies, Brackett fled at a high rate of speed from the parking lot of Moors Marina when officers arrived. A brief pursuit followed.

Authorities say Brackett lost control of his vehicle on Moors Road and crashed into a parked vehicle outside a residence. The impact pushed the parked vehicle into the home’s living room. A second parked vehicle was also damaged. Deputies’ vehicles were not involved in the crash.

One resident sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance for treatment. Brackett was treated at the scene and taken into custody.

Investigators say Brackett was in possession of a handgun and was impaired at the time of the crash.

In addition to the parole violation warrant, Brackett is charged with speeding, reckless driving, first-degree attempted assault, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, fourth-offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first-degree wanton endangerment, failure to maintain required insurance, second-degree criminal mischief and improper registration plate.

The sheriff’s office thanked emergency responders who assisted at the scene.
