Harrisburg woman facing attempted robbery charges for ‘stick up’

HARRISBURG, Ill. (KBSI) – A Harrisburg woman faces attempted robbery charges after an attempted “stick up” inside a bank at the Walmart in Harrisburg.
Saline County Central Dispatch received a call from a bank teller from Woodforest National Bank, located inside of Wal-Mart on Thursday, June 22.
The teller reported that a woman had just entered the bank and passed a note demanding $45,000, and indicating to the teller that “this is a stick up.”
Harrisburg Police officers responded to the scene and while en route learned that the woman had left the Wal-Mart.
Officers arrived in the area and found a suspect matching the description provided by the caller.
Officers contacted her and identified her as Gwendolyn Breckenridge, 52, of Harrisburg.
Officers spoke with witnesses and collected the notes passed by the suspect, who witnesses confirmed was Breckenridge. Breckenridge was ultimately arrested and transported to the Saline County Detention Center where she was released to the custody of correctional officers.
Breckenridge was informally charged with attempted robbery.
