Haunted Hall of Horror celebrates 35 years with ‘The Final Showing’ in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – The Haunted Hall of Horror is celebrating 35 years of scares in Cape Girardeau with the opening of its 2026 season, “The Final Showing,” on Friday, Oct. 9.

Hosted by the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, the annual Halloween attraction takes visitors through a series of haunted mazes inside the A.C. Brase Arena, featuring creepy clowns, a 3D freak show, a haunted asylum and dolls that seem to have a mind of their own.

For more than three decades, the attraction has continued to expand, offering new experiences and scares for visitors each Halloween season.

“We continue to make it bigger and better each year, so we’re just really excited to be one of the only haunted house attractions in town,” said Robert Shanahan with Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation. “We’re looking forward to a big year.”

What began as a haunted attraction on the arena’s main floor has expanded into several areas throughout the building, with dozens of actors bringing the experience to life.

“It was just on the main floor and now we’ve grown it to three other areas throughout the building,” Shanahan said. “And we have over 50 contracted employees and volunteer actors.”

FOX23’s Tallis Johnson experienced the attraction firsthand, making her way through the haunted halls alone while encountering unexpected scares around nearly every corner.

The Haunted Hall of Horror will be open Oct. 9-10, 16-17, 23-24 and 30-31 from 7 to 10 p.m. each night.

Admission is $12 per person, with children 5 and younger admitted free. Glow sticks will also be available for $1 each.

A special student night will be held Oct. 31, offering discounted admission of $8 with a valid student ID.

The attraction is open to all ages, but children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
