Hazardous materials training to bring emergency vehicles to Herrin

HERRIN, Ill., (KBSI) — Residents may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles Wednesday as the Herrin Fire Department hosts a hazardous materials response exercise.
The MABAS Division 45 Hazardous Materials Team will conduct its quarterly training from approximately 8 a.m. to noon at the Herrin Community Unit School District 4 office, 500 N. 10th St.
Multiple emergency response vehicles will participate in a simulated hazardous materials incident. The exercise is designed to give emergency personnel hands-on training in responding to hazardous materials emergencies.
The district office and all Herrin schools will operate normally during the exercise.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution near the training site.
