Hazel man facing drug charge after traffic stop

HAZEL, Ky. (KBSI) – A Hazel man faces a drug charge and traffic offenses after a traffic stop on August 27.

Matthew C. Lovett, 44, of Hazel faces charges of possession of controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense-methamphetamine/firearm enhanced (Class C felony) and various traffic offenses.

Narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop on Center Street in Hazel around 2 p.m. on August 27.

Sheriff’s deputies say the driver was found to be in possession of illicit drugs while armed with a handgun.

Lovett was taken to the Calloway County Detention Facility.
