CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Hazel man faces drug charges after a traffic stop on Monday.

Aaron D. Beard, 50, of Hazel faces charges of trafficking controlled subst 1st deg, 1st offense-methamphetamine (Class B felony-firearm enhanced), trafficking controlled substance 2nd degree, 1st offense-anabolic steroids (Class B felony-firearm enhanced), possession of controlled substance 1st deg, 1st offense-drug unspecified (Class D felony), possesion of controlled substance 2nd degree-drug unspecified, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 641N and Almo Road on Monday, February 5 around 7:30 p.m.

Beard was found to have a warrant stemming from a drug investigation last month in which a search warrant was executed on his home. Deputies found approximately 23 grams of suspected methamphetamine along with what appeared to be counterfeit pills. These tablets were marked as Xanax and Oxycodone but appeared to be “pressed” with these markings and could be counterfeit, according to Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies.

Further testing will be done by the Kentucky State Police Lab to see if they contain the proper active ingredient as marked, or any other substances.

Beard was only charged for the possession of what was marked on the tablets until that testing can be completed. Also located were multiple vials of suspected liquid testosterone, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Multiple firearms were seized, some of which were modified with cut and shortened barrels, serial numbers removed.

He was taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
