Head-On collision causes minor damage to school bus in Illinois
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — A head-on collision between two vehicles caused secondary damage to a school bus carrying 27 students Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. near Illinois Route 37 and Maxine Lane, just south of Marion, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
Two vehicles collided head-on, causing significant damage, before coming into contact with the school bus, which received minor damage. No students were injured.
Students were transferred to another bus and taken to Marion Junior High School, where they were released to their parents.
“We are thankful that the involvement of the school bus was secondary to the primary accident and there are no reported student injuries at this time,” said Sheriff Jeff Diederich.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the driver who caused the accident for impaired driving.
