Heartland Home Show gives businesses a chance to build connections with customers

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Building a strong customer base is important to any business, and this weekend’s Heartland Home Show enables local businesses to do just that.

Not only does this event help businesses attract new customers, but vendors said the relaxed atmosphere allows them to get to know people on a more personal level.

“I talk to people all day, but I’m usually trying to sell them something. Just telling them what we do, it’s a little bit different,” Chris Cota with Ultimate Flooring and Paint said.

“It’s real relaxed,” Jim Stewart with Melvin Mills Roofing said. “It’s people coming in and just asking them what their needs are, coming up with solutions, financing something that we’re bringing to the table, a few people interested in that, and just educating on the products that work best for their homes.”

And Cota said the conversation could go just about anywhere.

“I can even just talk to them about what’s going on for their weekend and get to know them a little bit better,” he said. “I have a little bit more time and can build a little bit more repertoire I guess and not worry about, ‘Well, let’s get in to what you’re going to buy from us.’”

Stewart said it’s those personal connections that make all the hard work so rewarding.

“We cover such a wide area,” he said. “It’s meeting new people and just hearing their stories, telling our stories, you know, how we got our starts, and just the experiences coming along, and just educating people is what really drives us.”

And the atmosphere at the Heartland Home Show is suitable to sharing those stories while also educating future and current customers.
