Heartland Writers’ Guild Members embracing AI writing tools 

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) – AI programs like ChatGPT have become the talk of the artistic community, igniting discussions about their potential to generate photos, write scripts, and even compose books within minutes.  

Concerns about the implications for the future of creativity have arisen as these capabilities grow. 

Heartland Writers’ Guild is embracing AI tools like ChatGPT to enhance their writing skills and expand their creative horizons. 

Rachel Ashworth, Vice President of the Heartland Writers’ Guild, spoke to her group today about how AI can help them as writers. 

“In every other industry and field, advancements occur, and professionals are expected to adapt and utilize them to remain relevant. I think that’s why it’s really important we can all be relevant using AI,” said Ashworth. 

ChatGPT has emerged as one of the leading AI programs, with other major companies such as Bing and Google also entering the AI field.  

Ashworth highlighted various applications of AI for writers, including generating outlines for books and aiding in marketing content creation. 

 “I can input content into ChatGPT and ask it to create an engaging Facebook hook to attract readers to my content on Facebook. It can also assist with translation and help with translation it can help with cultural sensitivities,” Ashworth explained. 

While apprehension about the impact of AI on the writing profession persists, Ashworth emphasized the importance of the human element in the creative process. 

 “The human element is always essential. It’s about humans learning how to utilize the tool effectively, allowing the tool to enhance their capabilities,” Ashworth added.
