Herrin man arrested on child pornography charges

HERRIN, Ill., (KBSI) – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 7 arrested a Herrin man Thursday on multiple counts of possession and dissemination of child pornography.
ISP said special agents executed a search warrant Aug. 28 at the home of Peyton Steckenrider, 23, in the 500 block of South 26th Street. Investigators reported finding evidence of child sexual abuse material.
Steckenrider was booked into the Williamson County Jail pending a detention hearing. He faces eight counts of possession of child pornography – victim under 13 years of age, a Class 2 felony, and eight counts of dissemination of child pornography – victim under 13 years of age, a Class X felony.
The investigation involved assistance from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office High Tech Crimes Bureau, the Southern Illinois Enforcement Group, the Herrin Police Department, the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Police Department, and the Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office.
