HERRIN, Ill. (KBSI) — The Herrin Park District has received an $80,000 donation from the Harrison Bruce Foundation to help fund repairs at the Herrin City Pool.

Park officials said the funding will be used to address maintenance needs as work continues to prepare the facility for reopening ahead of the 2026 summer season.

Board members expressed optimism following the donation, saying the additional funding could help ensure the pool is ready for public use later this year.

The park district has spent recent months seeking financial support and developing plans to reopen the pool after ongoing repair concerns raised questions about its availability for the upcoming season.

Officials said they remain hopeful the pool will open this summer as repairs continue.
