Herrin police arrest man on child sexual assault and grooming charges

HERRIN, Ill., (KBSI) — The Herrin Police Department has arrested Charles Maynard, 60, following an investigation by department detectives.

Maynard was taken into custody on Nov. 13, 2025, and is charged with:

  • Three counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child
  • Three counts of Grooming

He is being held in the Williamson County Jail.

The department thanked the Williamson–Franklin County Child Advocacy Center, the Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for their cooperation in the investigation.
