Herrin police pursue stolen vehicle, driver arrested
HERRIN, Ill., (KBSI) — A high-speed pursuit ensued early Friday morning after the Herrin Police Department received a 911 call regarding an attempted vehicle burglary in the 1000 block of South 16th Street.
Officers spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, observing several traffic violations in the process. The pursuit spanned approximately 22 miles north on Route 148, entering Jefferson County, before the Herrin Police Department terminated their involvement.
Jefferson County deputies later located and pursued the suspect vehicle, detaining three male occupants. The driver, identified as Gregory L. Moore, is being held at the Jefferson County jail on charges from both the Herrin Police Department and Jefferson County.
Investigations revealed the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen from Cahokia, Illinois. The Herrin Police Department extended gratitude to assisting agencies, including the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Ziegler Police Department, and Christopher Police Department.
