Highschool student caught with handgun at school

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo (KBSI) – A student was found with a handgun at school.

On Tuesday, October 10, school officials were made aware of a student carrying a weapon on a high school campus in Poplar Bluff.

School staff worked alongside the school resource officer to secure the handgun.

Superintendent Aaron Cornman stated that there was never any danger to students or faculty at the school.

Allegedly the student didn’t have any plans of harming anyone but had been threatened by an adult and was carrying it for protection.

The Poplar Bluff Police Department and School Resource Officer took the student into custody and is investigating the incident.
