NEW MADRID COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) — A two-story home was destroyed in a fire Tuesday morning in New Madrid County.

According to the Portageville Fire Department, firefighters were called around 6:30 a.m. to assist the Lilbourn Fire Department with a structure fire off U.S. Highway 62.

Before crews arrived, responding deputies reported the home was heavily involved in flames.

Because there were no fire hydrants in the area, firefighters established a tanker shuttle operation to supply water.

Additional tanker support was provided by the New Madrid and Marston fire departments.

Firefighters found the home fully engulfed when they arrived. Despite an aggressive firefighting effort, the residence was declared a total loss.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Lilbourn, Portageville, New Madrid and Marston fire departments, the New Madrid Police Department, the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office and the New Madrid County Ambulance District.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not been released.
