Human remains found after Whitley County fire, investigation underway

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky., (KBSI) — Kentucky State Police are investigating after human remains were found following a structure fire in Whitley County.

Troopers said they were notified around 8:19 a.m. April 12 after remains were discovered in the aftermath of a fire on Lot-Mud Creek Road. The South Whitley Fire Department had responded to the fire the night before.

Authorities said the remains were recovered with assistance from the Whitley County Coroner’s Office, and the individual was pronounced dead. An autopsy has been requested.

Officials said no foul play is suspected at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
