Hundreds gather in Cape Girardeau for Project Hope

Project Hope 2026

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Hundreds of people gathered for Project Hope today in Cape Girardeau.

The event was previously ran under another name and has been connecting communities to local resources for 18 years.

This year they have expanded those they intend to reach and given the event a new name, Project Hope organized by Community Partnership.

Dana Cross is a Community Case Manager for Community Partnership, shares more on who they hope to reach.

“As the years have grown, there have just been so many different barriers and different things like that. So even people who have housing, they have some barriers. So, we just wanted to be able to provide resources for unhoused individuals and families as well” shares Cross.

67 different local resources were made available, everything from healthcare to food sources to birth and family and pet resources.

The event aims to be a one stop shop that removes barriers such as transportation or communication access.

Ashley Watson is a Parenting and Adoption Case Manager for Lutheran Children and Family Services, she had a booth set up at the event and talks about the importance behind events like project hope.

“It’s very important to have activities like this and events like this, because it helps everybody come to one spot and get all their needs met at one time.”

Project Hope took place at the Shawnee Park Center on Friday October 9 and ran from 10:00 am through 2:00 pm.
