SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) — The husband of a Sikeston woman found dead along a Scott County Road has been arrested following a weeks-long investigation.
Kali Hasty, 35, was found dead along County Highway 529 during the early morning hours of July 25.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office said investigators conducted numerous interviews, executed search warrants and examined physical and digital evidence before submitting their findings to the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Charges were filed against Hasty’s husband, Travis J. Hasty, and a warrant was issued Sept. 9. Deputies arrested him without incident around 6 p.m. that day.
Travis Hasty is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, both Class D felonies; driving while intoxicated, a Class E felony; and abandonment of a corpse, a Class E felony.
He is being held in the Scott County Jail without bond pending a court appearance.
The charges announced by the sheriff’s office do not accuse Travis Hasty of causing Kali Hasty’s death.
Sheriff Derick Wheetley said the investigation remains active and additional information is expected to be released later Thursday.
