I-24 westbound blocked at 46 mile marker after 2 semi trucks crash

LYON COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – The westbound lanes of Interstate 24 are blocked near the 46 mile marker in Lyon County after a crash involving two semi trucks.
One of the trucks was hauling empty glass bottles that spilled and left glass shards along the road. Some of the bottles broke, leaving shards of glass along the roadway. Additionally, the trailer is damaged to a point that the remaining cargo is having to be offloaded. The glass has to be cleared from the road. This has extended the timeline for the road to be block.
I-24 westbound traffic is being detoured off at the KY 139 Princeton-Cadiz Exit to follow KY 93 North to return to I-24 at the KY 293 Eddyville-Princeton Exit 45 Interchange, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Drivers are urged to use appropriate caution along the detour route.
The westbound lanes are expected to be blocked until about 6:30 p.m.
