Illinois Department of Labor recovers $483,000 in unpaid wages for construction workers

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Labor has recovered over $483,000 in unpaid wages for workers on public construction projects, the department announced Thursday.

The settlement agreement with Bulk Storage, Inc. of Beecher, Illinois, also includes an $85,000 penalty.

An investigation found the contractor failed to pay wages and benefits to over three dozen workers as required under the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act.

“Ensuring workers are paid the wages they’ve earned is crucial,” said Illinois Department of Labor Director Jane Flanagan. “This agreement underscores that every employer on public works and construction projects must follow the law.”

Workers who believe they have not been properly compensated can file a complaint online or call 312-793-2800.
