Illinois governor seeks $100 million investment in higher education
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (KBSI) – Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is proposing a $100 million investment into higher education.
“Working with the members of the general assembly, we’re making a difference in people’s lives by making these investments and we’re now in a position to continue to upkeep and build our community colleges which is changing the face of and the trajectory of our economy in a very substantial way,” said Pritzker.
Pritzker’s budget proposal calls for increased funding into the monetary award grant program to make community college more affordable.
When paired with other grants, the extra funding would make it possible for students who are at or below the median income level to graduate college without any student loans.
