Illinois launches “Illinois Grown” Program to promote local farmers and businesses

ILLINOIS (KBSI) — The Illinois Department of Agriculture has launched Illinois Grown, a program aimed at promoting local farmers and businesses.
The program features an Illinois Grown logo, which will appear on products made or grown in the state. The logo will help consumers identify local products, supporting the state’s agricultural industry and economy.
“The Illinois Grown initiative is about supporting local communities,” said IDOA Director Jerry Costello II. “By buying Illinois Grown products, consumers can feel good knowing their money is going directly to Illinois farmers and producers.”
The program encourages consumers to pledge to spend at least $10 weekly on Illinois Grown items, which could reinvest millions into the local economy.
Benefits for producers include increased visibility through state marketing campaigns, targeted reach to consumers prioritizing local sourcing and no additional costs.
Retailers can participate by showcasing Illinois Grown products in their stores, receiving free in-store display materials.
Consumers can take the Illinois Grown pledge online and receive a free reusable bag or sticker.
