Illinois man arrested in McCracken County after vehicle pursuit and foot chase

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) – On April 7, 2025, Deputy C. Cope with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a silver Hyundai Sonata driven by Lamar D. Tyson, 30, of Metropolis, Illinois, due to missing tail lamps on Park Avenue.

Tyson failed to stop, prompting a pursuit. He eventually abandoned his vehicle near North 10th Street and attempted to flee on foot.

After a brief chase, Tyson was apprehended and found to be in possession of 7 ounces of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

– No tail lamps
– Reckless driving
– Speeding (26 mph over the speed limit)
Fleeing and Evading

– Fleeing or evading police (1st degree, motor vehicle)
– Fleeing or evading police (1st degree, on foot)
Drug and Paraphernalia Charges

– Trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 oz, 2nd offense)
– Tampering with physical evidence
Outstanding Warrants

– Trafficking in controlled substance (2nd offense, carfentanil or fentanyl)
– Failure to appear
– Parole violations
