Illinois man wrecks stolen vehicle

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces charges after being found in a stolen vehicle.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office on November 11, 2024, at 6:42 pm, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a single vehicle traffic accident on Dykersburg Road.

After arrival, Deputies saw an inverted Ford F250 and identified the driver as Richard D. Colbroth.

Colbroth told deputies that he lost control of the vehicle, failing to navigate the curve and subsequently left the roadway, rolled, and came to rest on the roof of the vehicle.

Deputies discovered that the vehicle, operated by Colbroth, was stolen and that he had a revoked driver’s license.

 A person search revealed a clear plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance which later field tested positive for Methamphetamine.

Colbroth was arrested. 

Colbroth was transported to an area hospital, treated for a minor injury sustained in the traffic accident, and medically released.

Colbroth was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
