Illinois State Police investigating deadly crash in DuQuoin

DU QUOIN, Ill. (KBSI) – One person died in a head-on crash Sunday, March 17 in Du Quoin.

Illinois State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on US 51 just South of S. Madison Street, in Du Quoin around 5:11 p.m.

One vehicle was traveling south on US 51 near S. Madison Street in DuQuoin and another vehicle was traveling north at the same place.

The driver crossed the center line and struck the other vehicle head-on, according to Illinois State Police.

Multiple people were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One passenger was pronounced dead on scene.

The crash investigation is active.
