Illinois State Police seek help identifying remains found in Lake Mattoon

MATTOON, Ill. (KBSI) — Illinois State Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the remains of a man discovered in Lake Mattoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which shared the request on behalf of Illinois State Police, boaters found part of a human arm in Lake Mattoon on the evening of June 28.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department requested that the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigations take over the investigation.
Investigators said the recovered arm has several distinctive tattoos, which they hope will help identify the man. Photos of the tattoos have been released as part of the investigation.
