Illinois State Police troopers help save driver after crash on I-57

CHAMPAIGN, Ill., (KBSI) — Illinois State Police are recognizing two troopers for their quick actions that helped save the life of a driver following a crash on Interstate 57 near Market Street.
According to Illinois State Police, troopers responded to the crash and found the driver unresponsive and not breathing. Troopers broke a vehicle window to reach the driver, began CPR and deployed an automated external defibrillator while continuing lifesaving efforts until emergency medical personnel arrived.
State police said they later learned the driver was recovering from her injuries. On Monday, the troopers visited her to wish her well during her recovery.
Illinois State Police praised the troopers’ actions, calling them an example of the agency’s commitment to service.
