SPRINGFIELD, Ill., (KBSI) — Illinois State Police are reminding parents to be cautious about the information they share on social media as students head back to school.
Police said popular back-to-school photos and signs can unintentionally reveal personal information about children.
Parents are encouraged to avoid publicly sharing details such as a child’s full name, age, school, teacher’s name, favorite foods, colors and hobbies.
ISP warned that those details could potentially be used by child predators and encouraged families to limit the personal information included in back-to-school posts.
