ILLINOIS (KBSI) — A Mega Millions ticket sold in Illinois matched all the numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing to win the $533 million jackpot, lottery officials said.
The winning numbers for the March 10 drawing were 16, 21, 30, 35 and 65, with a Mega Ball of 7.
The jackpot winner can choose to receive the prize as a lump-sum payment worth about $244.2 million or take the full jackpot through annual payments that increase each year.
Lottery officials say the win marks the first Mega Millions jackpot of 2026. The previous jackpot was won in December in New Jersey, and the prize rolled over through 28 drawings before Tuesday’s win.
Several other players also won major prizes in the same drawing. Another Illinois ticket matched the five white balls to win a $5 million Match 5 prize, while a player in Maryland won $4 million with the same number match.
With the jackpot claimed, the Mega Millions grand prize has reset to $50 million, with a cash option of $22.9 million.
The next Mega Millions drawing is scheduled for Friday, March 13, at 11 p.m. Eastern Time.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $5, and players select five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 24 for a chance to win the jackpot.
