“It’s just what we’re meant to do”: McGangsters, Barks n Bubbles team up to find homes for cats

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – The McGangsters’ goal is to find homes for as many cats as possible, and their adoption event at Barks n Bubbles pet salon in Paducah was their latest effort to do just that.

“It’s just what we’re meant to do,” Jim Gatlin said.

For Gatlin and the rest of the McGangsters, that “it” is rescuing cats.

“I’ve just always loved cats, and teamed up with a bunch of other ladies and men who love cats also,” he said.

Gatlin said not only do adoption events like the one on Sunday help find homes for the cats, in turn, it enables the group to take in more cats.

“We’ve got way over 100 cats and kittens in our fosters all over the county, and we just need homes for them so we can take in more,” he said. “We can’t take anything right now.”

Barks n Bubbles Owner Lynsie Talbert said choosing a favorite out of the bunch at the salon on Sunday was nearly impossible.

“The really super playful ones are the ones I feel like people go for because they imagine them running around their house playing with toys, but then you’ve got the super lazy ones that you just want to snuggle up in bed with, so it’s a hard choice,” she said. “They’re all great and beautiful.”

Talbert, who helped the McGangsters even before she opened her business about 2 ½ years ago, said having a great team to help these kitties find homes makes all the difference.

“They all share the same vision: humanity over vanity,” she said. “They all share a love of rescue and a love of animals.”

And that team is especially important because: “Adoption never stops. Rescue never stops.”
