JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — The city of Jackson will become the first community to participate in the SafeAcross program, aimed at promoting pedestrian safety.

As part of the initiative, seven “Mr. Walker” statues will be installed throughout the city. In preparation, the city’s Public Works department has upgraded crosswalk markings and signage.

Staff will conduct crosswalk compliance studies to raise public awareness about crosswalk laws.

The SafeAcross Jackson program will launch Saturday, April 26, during the annual Park Day event.
