Jackson Chamber shares list of restaurants open during gas outage

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — The Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce shared an updated list Friday of restaurants currently operating as the community continues dealing with a natural gas outage affecting some local businesses.

Chamber officials said several restaurants have reported their operating status and that hours or menu options may be limited at some locations.

Restaurants reported as open include Wib’s Drive-In; Mario’s & American Ice Cream; Smoke Shack at the Co-Op; Las Brisas; Rally’s in Jackson; Subway on Main Street; Dexter BBQ, which is not serving fried items; Harp’s Deli; and Lil Country Store on Highway 177.

Pilot House is open but offering only bottled and canned drinks due to Cape Girardeau’s 48-hour boil water advisory. Sonny Side Café in Fruitland is operating with a limited menu, and TJ’s is serving customers from its food truck.

Other businesses currently open include Sonic, which is serving drinks and ice cream only; Ground-A-Bout Drive-Thru, open daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. for drive-thru and mobile orders; Jackson Deli, open from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; and Cheesecake Ninja, which is open until 4 p.m. with its full menu, including Lent options.

Rhodes in Fruitland is serving hot food until 8 p.m., while Dairy Queen in Fruitland is offering burgers, hot dogs and ice cream. The Farmer’s Market in Oak Ridge is also serving hot meals and hosting a fish buffet from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The chamber said it will continue updating the list and encouraged residents to share additional restaurants that remain open along with their hours.
