Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office is providing video doorbells to victims and witnesses of violent crimes

JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – Jackson County State’s Attorney, Joseph A. Cervantez, announced today that the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office is providing video doorbells to victims and witnesses of violent crimes to aide in community safety.

The program is centered around violent crime and domestic violence abuse survivors and their families.

The video doorbells will be available through the Jackson County State’s Attorney Office beginning October 1, 2024. Those eligible can request one device per household.

“Video doorbells can be a lifeline for survivors and witnesses, providing a means to access support and resources during difficult situations,” said State’s Attorney Cervantez. “We are proud to stand this program up and we look forward to continuing to make a difference for survivors.”

The Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office has purchased several video doorbells using funds from the Illinois State Police Asset Forfeiture Funds.

Applications for the video doorbells are available at the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Victim Advocate’s Office.
