Jackson native raising money for city park basketball court improvement project

JACKSON, MO (KBSI) – One man in Jackson is rallying the community to help restore the city’s basketball courts.

“So I grew up here in Jackson, was able to play ball here growing up a lot,” said Josh Lakefahr. “And still come up here some, and as my son has gotten older, been coming up here a lot and just really noticed the courts have deteriorated quite a bit.”

With grass growing in cracks in the concrete, old backboards, and water erosion, it is time to make something to bring the basketball court back to its former glory.

Josh Lukefahr has had good support and backing from the community and city of Jackson for the project.

“I’ve had several businesses and some foundations that have inquired,” he said. “I’ve got nearly 50 donations on the GoFundMe page so far. There’s been really good community support around this.”

Freshening up the old basketball courts is the main goal for Lukefahr and the park. He wants to make it better than ever, a safe, fun and clean place for kids and adults to all enjoy.
