JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) – The Jackson Police Department is inviting residents to provide feedback as part of its upcoming accreditation review with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

The department, which first earned CALEA accreditation in March 2008 and most recently received Meritorious Re-Accreditation in March 2025, is undergoing its next assessment cycle. As part of that process, CALEA offers a Public Comment Portal where community members may share input on the agency’s performance.

According to the department, the portal allows the public to comment on:

  • Compliance with CALEA standards
  • Community engagement
  • Delivery of public safety services
  • Overall performance and continued eligibility for accreditation

Officials said the goal of CALEA accreditation is to promote continuous improvement and support professional excellence in law enforcement.

Residents may access the portal through any of the following:

The department noted that CALEA is not an investigatory body, and the portal should not be used to file complaints or submit information related to investigations. Submissions will not receive individualized responses, aside from an acknowledgment of receipt. Comments are reviewed solely for their relevance to accreditation standards.
