Jackson Police Hold Prescription Drug Take Back Day

JACKSON, MO (KBSI) – Jackson Police Department held a prescription drug take back day on Saturday April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They accepted dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs for disposal. The event will take place at 525 South Hope Street in Jackson. It is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Survey on Drug Use and Health explains that the majority of misused and abused prescription drugs are from family and friends, including someone else’s medication being stolen from their medicine cabinet in their home.

“It’s a way for the public to empty out the cupboards any place they have unused expired medication they’re no longer using and want to get rid of it will be safe and disposed of and turned over to the DEA,” said Corporal Rick Whittaker with the Jackson Police Department.

The event took place at 525 South Hope Street in Jackson. It was free and anonymous, no questions asked.

“So this is a great program for people who like I said clean out the cupboards and safely dispose of medication and that,” Cpl. Whittaker said.
