JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — The Jackson Police Department, in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, will host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day later this month.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jackson Police Department lobby, located at 202 W. Jackson Blvd.

Officials said the event provides a free and anonymous way for residents to safely dispose of unused or expired medications.

Accepted items include tablets, capsules, patches and other solid prescription medications. Liquids, including IV solutions, as well as syringes, sharps and illegal drugs will not be accepted.

Participants can drop off items at a designated collection bin inside the police department during event hours. Officials said the program aims to help prevent misuse, accidental poisoning and overdose.
